"The Artist" Peru  oil, 20" by 16"
The Art of textile weaving has been one of Peru's most advanced arts since before the time of the Incas. Susan and I loved seeing the many masterworks in the museums there as well as searching out those still practicing this art, using the same time-honored methods of their ancestors.

For this painting I wanted a subtle warm and cool harmony so just used Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Oxide Red (Rembrandt -- it's a darker version of Burnt Sienna), and White. As my teacher, Bill Parks, used to tell us, "as long as you have the temperature right, the color can be almost anything."
